This underground mine is located in the Chiricahua Mountains, Cochise County, Arizona. The Hilltop is a past producing mine with Silver, Lead, and Zinc values with minor amounts of copper and gold as well. The original legacy claims are the Rehm, Gray, Hilltop #7, Merritt Mill site and the Silver Prince, all located in Section 33, T16S, R30E and Section 5, T17S R30E and are within the Douglas Ranger District of Coronado National Forest.

There are approximately 9000 feet of tunnels about 1500 feet underground and these unpatented mining claims and mill sites totalling about 1400 acres.

An additional 60 claims totaing about 1200 acres has been staked on Rough Mountain as well because these show a stronger magnetic anomaly and more exploration potential.

Access to claims is by US Forest Service roads. Most of the claims are adjacent each other except for the mill sites which are close (see claim map).

One assay from (1992) shows .45 opt Silver, 6.2% lead, and 6.1% Zinc but you can bet that with 9000 feet of tunnels, even higher grade ore is present.

During a study performed by USGS during the 1980's as part of the North End Roadless Area mineralization evaluation, the study revealed a large geophysical anomaly that was interpreted as a probably massive ore body beneath the Hilltop Mine. Plans to perform exploration activities by the current owner have been adjusted in favor of selling the claims.

All 2600 acres of claims are being sold at the ridiculously low price of $205,000 to achieve a quick sale.

If you have been looking for some historic mining claims with tunnels in place, be sure to ask about these Arizona Lode Claims and the Hilltop Mine.
