This historically important Gold Bug Mine is located on Skunk Gulch in central Montana. Also this was known as the Weatherwax Mine, it was discovered in 1879 from outcroppings. High-grade veins were reported early in the mine's history. This 20 acres unpatented lode claim includes approximately 450 foot developed haulage tunnel with ventilation and steel door. The tunnel is reported to have several Raises, crosscut tunnels and one Winze. There is a good size staging pad at the mine's entrance. Access to mine is on established roads. This mine was last operational in 1999 with speculative ore reserves of 11,600 oz. (@ an average tenor of .5oz/ton). Underground drilling was used for sampling and evaluation. Older production records from 1940-1950 indicate 642 oz gold, 2278 oz silver and 18,519 pounds copper were recovered. Historically the mining seasons were from 1 to 6 months. The area shows good geologic potential for economic gold mineralization. Past history indicates multiple ounces of gold recovered per ton.The mine is ready to continue mining operations with minor upgrades to the mine and modification to current permits.. The owner wishes to sell the mine and is asking $250,000.
