The Golden Sun mine is located about 24 miles Southwest of Prescott, Arizona. Approximately 14 miles of unpaved, county maintained road and is accessible year 'round. The Golden Sun mine consists of 5 unpatented lode mining claims held by location. Old workings and outcrop exposures are predominantly confined to a draw dissecting the "core"of the deposit. Old workings consist of surface pits and two caved adits. Recent trenching and drilling has partially delineated and confirmed the presence of ore reserves. Gold values are confined to the quartz/tourmaline veins, to silica-flooded felsic tuffs and to zones of sericitic schist intruded by amphybolite ? dikes. The entire zone of mineralization is roughly 300' wide with a known strike length of 1500'. An additional strike length of 1200' to the north contains a potential bulk tonnage target. The individual quartz/tourmaline veins range up to .7 opt Au.... the bulk tonnage zones seemingly range between .03 and .06 opt Au. Recent calculations by a consulting geologist indicate over 500,000 tons grading .10 opt Au, or 100,000 tons averaging .052 opt Au. Additional trenching and drilling may increase gold reserves substantially and to a greater mining depth. Ore reserves from the main Vein are summarized below:
The drilling and trenching results indicate two distinct types of mining potential, a open pit bulk tonnage method which would be suitable for heap leaching, and hi grade siliceus ores which would be amenable to processing by gravity. If you are looking for a year 'round mining property that is suitable for commercial mining, take a look at the Golden Sun mine.
